I'm having problems with dvd shrink I have an external hard drive and an external burner now and when I try using dvd shrink it get all the way to the point when it's ready to burn it freezes up and does nothing any help is welcomed thanks
There are some interactive quick guides at http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php , you may want to review in case you may have missed something. Did you have DVD Shrink working properly before? What are the system specs for your PC; i.e. RAM, CPU, Hard Drive and freespace? What burning software are you using; also, did you check the path to the burning software you have selected in Shrink?
I just moved in with my girlfriend and it is not my computer but It has worked since I installed it I have a 120 GB hard drive useing nero to burn do you know if I can use dvd clone to burn from my hard drive or do I have to use the original dvd thanks
There's a number of variations. You can rip to the HD and then load the ripped file into Shrink as well as using the DVD direct. Then once Shrink has transcoded the DVD, you have a number of options. Usually if you have Nero, the simplest thing to do is let Nero burn it automatically. There you just check to make sure you have the correct burn selection set for the task. DVD Decrypter is supported and if I remember correctly, so is CopyToDVD from VSO. You also have the option to record the DVD to a hard drive folder. From the hard drive, you can burn it with any program that records DVD files. The link I gave you before, the one with the quick guides, may be something you want to review to see if you've made a setup error or if there is something that may be of help. You neglected to mention hard drive free space, the amount of RAM and how much of that is free (look at taskmanager), or the CPU being used, or the operating system. All I know is that your girlfriend has a PC with a 120GB hard drive.
I'll just add real quick, what you're describing, locking up is sometimes an indication that the PC doesn't have enough system resources to finish the task. Another problem is not having the path to the burner set properly. Sometimes the burner app may not be working right. DVD Decrypter (freebie) burns in ISO write mode and is supported by Shrink as a burner. You may want to set it up and give it a try. Again, read the guides at DVDShrink.info for the "how to". Then if you run into a problem, ask.
BroBear thanks for all you help I figured it out it was norton anti-virus all along Don't know why it just decided to act up thanks anyway
No problemo. I have the Internet Security Suite and Systemworks from Norton and never a peep. "Stuff" happens though. Glad you got it figured out.
