DVD Shrink

when i click on the DVD shrink application it just hangs and slows down my pc and i have to go to task manager to end the process. What could be the problem? I dumped it and reinstalled the application same problem.....

 

What verison of Shrink do you have. What are your PC specs and OS.

the latest 3.2 and my pc is 2Ghz Athlon 64 and 1 Gig pc 3200 memory. i don't understand why it keeps hanging. Is there anything else that does what dvd shrink does?

 

No this is a new pc.

 

u can try re-installing shrink?

if u have Nero u can use Nero Recode2

 

Well it is not Shrink. So K.I.S.S it. Keep it simple. Rule 1 is it plugged in. Sorry just bad humor...

Start with the usual suspects. Clean house, defrag and check for spy-ware. What else is running in the background [services]

OS XP or Vista

 

What movie are you trying to back up? Shrink alone cannot handle the newer encrypted movies. You need a program to fix the encryptions.

 

i've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. when i double click on the program to open it thats when it hangs and it's the only program that does it. i"m running window xp professional.

 

I run XP Pro[32]. The only problem with Shrink was after opening Shrink that was fixed with a re-install. Here are some links. DEP is worth a check.

Like garmoon said what movie/s are you trying to back up?

Shrink is no longer updated so it can not handle the latest movie encryptions.

To check if it is an encryption problem try copying a movie that is a few years old or a movie that is not made by Sony,Dreamworks,Disney. If it works fine then it's a encryption problem.

 

i'm just trying to open the application. I haven't even gotten to the movie part yet. I've been using dvd shrink for quite some time now on another pc but on this pc when i try and open the application it never opens but u can see in running in the background in task manager. It's hanging..thats what i need help with. i've dumped it reinstalled it, defraged the hard drive, disk clean up, removed adware, reinstalled windows. You name it.

 

As shrink is no longer updated it might not support your system especially with all the latest xp pro sp/update releases.

Apart from that I have no idea, sorry.

I am certain that other members will be able to get you sorted they are a great bunch of lads/gals.

You say you reinstalled Shrink. Did you use the same file that you used that "hangs"? Try a new download for Shrink here and reinstall:

Well i already had nero so nothing came with the burner software this is is strange to me also because in windows task manager it shows dvd shrink when i double click on it but the program actually open all the way. It just hangs and slows my computer down so bad that i have to delete the process from task manager.

Nero 7 but i can't even open the application task manager shows its open but i never opens on my desktop.

 

Did you do a full install of Nero 7 [w/In CD 5]. I dont think thats your problem but it will be if you get it running.

What type is your hard drive.
When you re-installed XP did you reformat.

Someone said to boot to safe mode and see what happens.
