I know this sounds weak, but I cannot get the DVD shrinker to even open up. It tells me cannot find cdburner.exe. I've downloaded aspi ver. 471 but still nothing. You guys help me out at all?
Hi Silverado, You can help by writing a detailed reply first. Need to know about your computer, your OS, your optical devices(burners), what programs you are trying to use and what you are trying to use them for. You've come to the right place but we can't help if we don't know what we're workin' with. Have you looked at DVD Shrink's web page? http://www.dvdshrink.info Frank
Alright, I'm trying to learn how to back up my DVD's. I'm operating out of windows 98 SE. I've downloaded Nero 6.0. I've also got the DVD dycrpter, and the shrinker I cannot get to work. I've dycrpted succesfully but as of yet been unable to do anything with it. My burner is a Verbatim DVD+RW. I'm able to burn CD's with but I am yet to put anything onto a DVD, even trying one of those home movie software deals, Sonic DVD. Any help?
You don't need Decrypter, Shrink and Nero 6 will do it for you. you can lose Sonic MyDVD also. Are you trying to decrypt with Decrypter and then use Shrink? Shrink will do both and it will be easier. Make sure you make a folder on your hard drive named exactly like this: VIDEO_TS This is where Shrink is going to put the files your burning program will use. Put your movie in your DVD reader and select "open disc" Shrink will analyze your movie for a couple of minutes. Tell me when you get that far, I think you might have been trying to use Decrypter in ISO mode and then trying to put those decrypted files through Shrink. I'm not familiar with windows 98 SE, but make sure your computer recognizes your DVD burner.
Just a quick update. I just backed up a DVD using the dycrypter, then Nero, and the burn was succesful. But, still cannot open the shrinker. The DVD I burned was only 3.7 GB.
When I try open shrink it says program not found, windows cannot find cdburner.exe. I have created VIDEO_TS, but cannot complete your instructions due shrink not wanting to open up for me. Thanks for helping me out.
Thats great, you can burn a DVD! That really is the hard part, getting ANYTHING to work! so now all you have to do is get Shrink to open. So I guess what you are saying is that after you downloaded it you were unable to open it at all?
Ya, do not know what that error message is and I have tried to look on the net and on the shrink site for people saying they had the same problem but have found nothing, accept trying that new ASPI Driver I mentioned earlier, but that did nothing. I have tried deleting the shrink and downloading it from other places, but still cannot open it.
So after it downloaded, did you get it to unzip? I've got this "file extractor" program that pops up when I try to open a zipped file. How does windows 98 do it?
No, I cannot even get this file to unzip. Typically that how my system does it. That error message comes up when I try to open the first time. Because when I download it, I download it to my desktop so I can find it. When I open it, nothing, but the cannot find cdburner.exe
