Hi I am new so not 100% sure if I am in the right place.

    Here is my problem:

We use Pinnacle to edit dvds (himself does) But we did a event about 3 months ago and now we have gotten loads of the dvds back saying they are jumping, skipping or the sound is off. Now We check every 5 dvd stick it in the dvd player watch different chapters all is good. But when we have checked these dvds they are working in our dvd player.(???) I have googled and some ppl are on about regional coding changing dvd player from R1 to R0. (we can go mucking around with other peoples dvd players.

How we do our dvd .. 1 press movie to disk via pinnacle ..2 duplicate master via our duplicator. all disks are copied from master. we used dvd -r any thing from 8x up.

We are completely lost We have tried other disks and different makes.

The only thing is!... M-inlaw bought a 16 euro dvd player from tesco's and the dvd jumps mad in it but if we put in a "hollywood" dvd it works perfectly. Whats that about???

Please help me :) we have been doing tapes and dvds for years this is the first time this has happened!

What brand of dvd media have you been using? skipping/hanging/locking up is always due to bad media.
I only use sony or verbatim, all other media is a coin toss. Sony 16x+ media has worked on every dvd player I have used.
You can use the free nero discspeed.exe (no installation required). This will test the dvd you burned. You need to get a very high score. Some of the bad media will score under 50. Check the dvd media section in this forumn for more dvd media advice.

To test if your dvd is properly author, use the free dvdshrink. when dvdshrink opens a dvd it analyzes the file structure. If it opens it up with no problems then it's good, if you get navigational errors, then it is a bad author job.

    Thanks Jony,

We use fuji 8x but we have also tried arita (a local videographer swears by them so we borrowed a few) They are the same. Last night we checked all the dvds from the pressed to the chapter dvd to the final copy. The chapther one is giving the problem. We are starting to think if its the machine that puts in the chapthers.

    :)
