Hey guys. I just burned a dvd using my new GSA-5163D onto a Verbatim DVD+R DL using 2.4x. However, the video skips and freezes up at parts. Perhaps my laptop isn't strong enough? It's a Pentium M 2.0 ghz with a gig of ram. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Nero 6. I just tried the dvd in my laptop player and it works, but not in my Sony player...slightly confused at this point.
This sounds like a media problem, what brand of discs did you use. Memorex cause many problems and so if this is what you are using change to a good quality media such as Verbatim or TaiyoYuden and burn at a slow speed, around 4x.
esplin, What model Sony? I had a 315 model that was bad from day one on playback of recorded media. My other two Sony's a 5 & 7 series play flawlessly. Do you have another player to try it on.
My stand alone dvd player is a Sony, DVD/VHS combo. I'm going to try the disc on a friend's player tonight. Upon doing some searches, I came across "booktyping"? Is this something that might help? Also, is there such a thing as burning too slow? I did do 2.4x as I keep hearing stories of bad burns faster speeds.
I have been haveing the skipping problem too as of late, I usually use TDK- DVDR+ 16x, but burn at a slower rate ( 4X). Have never had trouble until recently ( 200 plus without a coaster)now almost 3 of 5 skip-freeze-studder. dvd drcypt-dvd shrink- and dvd fab (free ) for Sony. The burner is a SONY that came with the Viao RA710G. Any Ideas ? Do the burners need cleaning ? Thanks Schifty
