Hi, this is my first post so please bear with me. I now have a collection of over 1000 dvds after many years of collecting. I am looking to put these onto a hard drive. I would like to know if anyone has heard of any software that you can view a catalogue of your collection (with info from the likes of imbd ) and then you can click on the dvd cover and it will play the movie. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Chris
One word:DVDpedia. This program lets you scan your DVD's UPC using an iSight camera and will grab all of the information on it from the internet and put it in your catalogue. DVDpdeia It's only like, $20 and has cover art, run-time, release information, MSRP, Summary and suggestions as well as a loaning system that can be setup for automated e-mail notifications to have your friends return your DVD(s) by integrating with Address Book. Pretty frickin' sweet.
There is another alternative if you are going to incode your dvd collection to a hard drive and you want movie posters and director and actor information like what is displayed in front row when using itunes movies here is a better solution that is free it is called METAX It adds all of this data for nothing even better all you have to do is drag the movie file onto the application it will start up tell it in the search window the name of the movie it will search amazon for the information and input and import it into itunes for use in front row
