    Hey,

I have a Slimtype DVDRW SSM-8515s and am having trouble with it. Every time I play a dvd, burned or not, it plays but the sound is scratchy and not in sync. I have been playing around with different programs recently so have installed/uninstalled dvdfab, anydvd, and a few others a bit in the last few days and so may have accidentally deleted something I didn't mean to but really don't know.

I have tried with both VLC and WMP and get the same result for both.

    Any ideas?

After a bit of digging, I found this can be caused if the IDE channel thing (in device manager) is running PIO instead of DMA. I looked in both my primary and secondary IDE channels and primary was DMA but secondary device 0 was set to DMA if available but was currently on PIO mode.

    After following the steps here:

and deleting the masterid registry key and rebooting (making sure to make a backup first) it all seems to work just fine now.
