Please help me stop committing dvdicide!

Here is the deal. I studied up on burning movies to play on my tv. Although, my emerson players will not play burnt disk at all; my PS2 does. I have learned what all the files are and why they are on the disk. I am using ConvertXToDvd to convert and burn my dvds. The first one I did, played just fine. When I burned the last couple I began having problems. The movie played just fine on my computer. It did not skip or stall. After I burned the movie to dvd and played it on the PS2, it would skip and freeze every couple of seconds or so. I am using MEMOREX DVD-R (16x 4.7GB 120 min) to burn my movies. I tried burning them at 4x, 8x, and 16x. When I attempted the 16x and max, I got a message telling me that I should burn at 4x for better quality. I have been working at this for some time and have wasted several disks. If someone can help, I would be very appreciated. You can also reach me via email at *removed*. Any help, please. Thanks!

This question, or variations of it, gets asked everyday on this forum.

The answer is use a known good brand. This includes, Sony, Verbatim
and Taiyo Yuden - then burn them at half their rated speed.

You can use lesser brands, but the above produces consistent better
    results.

Check to see if the burner has any firmware updates.

If there is a doubt as to the quality of the burn, use something like
Discspeed to do a "disk quality" check.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I am sorry that I did not find it on one of the other forums. As you can imagine for someone that is completely new at this, I was already on brain overload. Thanks and I will try your suggestions. Have a wonderful day!

No need to apologize - we've all done similar during moments of
    "brain overload".

Hello. I wanted to let the few of you know how I fixed my problem. I get free unlimited memorex dvd-r disks. (There is a reason they are free, right....lol) Well, I am using ConvertXToDVD Full Version to convert my movies from .avi format to NTSC (.vob) format. I am using 1x conversion rate to convert and 4x to burn. Of course, not all works because some disks turn out to be bad and some still freeze but I am get around 8 out of 10 movies to burn and play on my PS2. Since they are free for me it works just fine. Perhaps, it helps someone else. Have a wonderful day!
