A buddy gave me 2 aftermarket DVD's he bought. I was going to watch them. I tried 2 DVD drives on one cmputer. 2 different xboxes and a DVD player. I know he watched them so why cant I even see files on the DVD? It spins in the player for a very long time and then spits out a dirty disk error. On the computer they show up as blank media??
I dont get it.....Do any of you?
I realize that without a burner you shouldnt be able to alter the DVD but I remember the idea of disposable rentals that would be un readable after a certain time period. Is this the case ,or is it a freaky incompatability issue with the media?

you say 'aftermarket' - do you mean copies, if so it's probably cheapo media that's causing the problem

I see that its sony media w/ purple die. i would think thats ok. do you know if there is such a thing as a "time blocker" of sorts? BTW my DVD player is a sony. Doesnt mean much, but you would think that the media they put their name on would be compatible w/ their players.
