hi i have tons of dvds that i watch on my computer i'd love to just rip em and save em on the hard drive so i dont have to keep track of all the discs. is there a program that will rip a dvd into an avi file or another format compatible with windows media player or quicktime? thanks
tdude51, Welcome to the forum, All you have to do is copy the ripped DVD's to the HD. If the DVD's are not ripped to the HD then use DVDDecrypter to rip the whole disk to the HD. Look under software at the top> DVD Rippers> DVDDecrypter. It will make a file on the C; Drive in the name of the movie
Typically we backup DVDs to MPEG4 AVI. First rip to HD with DVDDecrypter (in IFO mode), then process DVD VOB files to AVI using GordianKnot http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/gordian_knot.cfm with the XviD codec http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/xvid_koepi_unstable.cfm We have a forum for this - the DivX / XviD Encoding forum http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/41 Regards
I must have had a brainfart when I answered this one. I knew the answer but answered another forum question here and answered there the answer for this one. Thanks The_OGS for properly answering this one and I will now go change the other thread
