Can you burn a movie to a cd-r or only dvd-r's? I was understanding you could use CD-R's.... Or is it u can up to (ie 700mb) the CD-R's capacity and then insert another?
You can make miniDVDs using CD-Rs, but I have not seen any players that support them personally. DVD-Rs are getting so cheap now it's probably not worth your trouble of splitting the DVD into so many discs: http://www.vcdhelp.com/minidvd.htm
You can also convert DVD movies to either SVCD, VCD, or DivX formats. More information and utilities for this can be found at www.digital-digest.com. Conversion to DivX maintains high quality and often compresses a movie to a single CD-R, however these movies cannot be played in standalone DVD players. Conversion to SVCD is becoming more popular lately. It creates a set of CD's, often 2 or 3, that use the same video compression methos as a DVD, and can be played in standalone DVD players.
