DVD to DIVX / XVID

I'm familiar with DVD shrink, decrypter, DVD Fab, etc... but what I really want to do is just insert a DVD and have it converted to DIVX / XVID / MPEG4. I've seen the guides here and all require about 4 programs and many steps - is it too much to ask for some program to just automate this? I'm even willing to pay for such a solution, I've already bought several packages including DVD Fab, Region Free, DIVX and more.

This is an obvious need - is it really true that nothing exists to do this?

 

you might be able to save yourself a few steps by picking the right software, but you have to rip the DVD to your hd first, then, I guess the easiest way after that is use Autogk.

It is because of the encryption on the DVD that you need to rip it to your hd first. I don't know of anyway around it.

A very good ripper is DVD Decrypter. Just use that along with Autogk. (only two steps).

Has anyone tried this one? Can anyone recommend one over the other? I'm ready to buy one.

 

I've looked at imtoo and aoamedia. They appear very similar in features but the imtoo does not seem very error tolerant. It pops up dialogs quite often, and within 2 minutes I got it into an infinite loop of error dialogs.

The aoamedia one appears more refined, they have a 30 day money back guarantee so I'm going to go with that one as its fared well in the tests I've done with it so far.

 

You could try AutoGK or FairUse Wizard. Both are free.

 

AutoGK crashes when I try to run it. But FairUse looks pretty nice, thanks for the links. Will continue to test them out.

 

if you are running AutoGK (latest version) and DivX 6.1 together, that is why you are crashing.

The way around it:

go back to divx 6.0X latest version
or
(keeping Divx 6.1) and editing the divx.dll file located in
%windows%/system32 by changing the code at address 0008ABCD 00 to 07

I have done it and it works.

one more option. (and this work great) is a converter like autogk, it is called avi.NET located at http://www.clonead.co.uk/

give that a try. I think you will like it. No editing .dll with this one.

 

Thanks. After spending hours on testing, ImToo (not the ripper) but DVD to DIVX seems to have the best combo of features and at $29 the price is right. Just purchased it a few minutes ago, awaiting my registration code.
