I have new DVD-R and DVD+RW drives. Somebody told me easiest way to burn DVDs is to get Roxio platinum (but upgrade costs $100)

Is this the easiest way. Or is there an easy less extensive way to burn? Thanks

Prassi Primo or Record Now Max are the best for DVD
Nero has compatibility issues with some players but it works well if your player doesn't have issues with it. You can download a trial version and give it go.

I wouldn't touch Roxio with a long pole even if it were free

Here you can find (several) guides:
    http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdripping

The 3 steps to COPY are:
    1. DVD decrypter (ripping to HD)
    2. DVD2one (from >4.36gb to 4.36gb)
    3. Nero (burning)
