If you are using any of these drives as your reader, you should turn DMA on. You are using very poor quality media. No wonder you get read errors... Also, turn off DVD high compatibility mode. If you copy on the fly, for better data transfer you might wanna put the burner and reader on different IDE channels.

If you buy in the store, get some Verbatims(were on sale at Office Max, 50pk for 14$), Sony or Maxell made in japan( Best Buy or Sams Club has sales, you can chaeck the DVD+/- media forum for weekly sales). If you buy online, go for Taiyo Yuden.
