Hey guys, I just got back from a skydiving trip this weekend... my jump was recorded using a MiniDV camera and put onto DVD for me, but since it's 200 megs, I'd like to compress it so I can send it out to friends online. I have already ripped the vob file but am wondering if there is a simple program that will take all the video and audio from the vob and put it in mpeg or avi format. I tried using dvd2avi but it is splitting the audio out from the video and I'm not sure how to put them back together. Thanks for the help.

Hi Dasnub, did you try AoA DVD Ripper (http://www.aoamedia.com/dvd_ripper.htm)? I suggest you convert your DVD to AVI format with Xvid codec. Xvid is a popular format for viewing DVD movies on PCs due to its high compression rate. The DVD copied and compressed by Xvid is of high quality and takes up less room on hard drive. Plus, comparing to DivX, Xvid is free.

Xvid is the default video codec settings in AoA DVD Ripper, you can see that from the Settings window > AVI Settings > Video Codec. All you need to do is load your DVD, set the output directory and press the Start button.
