dvd will not play in dvd player

    I am able to play the dvd in my computer but not in any of the 3 diferent brand dvd players I have, any suggestions?

    Is the DVD a backup of a movie disk or something like an avi file that was downloaded then converted to DVD format, then burned?

    If it was an avi that you converted to DVD, did you specify that the output be in the correct format (NTSC for North America, PAL for Europe)?

    Yes, the dvd is an avi file that was downloaded and then burned, the dvd player gives me the following error: "Playback prohibited by area limitations"; I am going to check on the output. Thank you

    is the file burnt as .avi or is it stuff like .vob etc...?
