I have had failed attempts at 3 out of 4 attempts at burning dvds with dvd wizard pro. And the one that did work won't fast foward or search thru the chapters. Am I doing something wrong or is the program shoddy? This is my first attempts at dvd burning and the software. Was this program a bad choice? If so, what is the best and easiest to get and use. I have limited time to record as I am going back to Iraq, and I am also wondering is there a faster program as this one takes about 2 1/2 hours to decrypt. Depends on the length of the movie of course. Any help PLEASE.
I don't know anything about DVD Wizard Pro. Maybe someone on the forum has used that software but I don't think it is very popular. For a free option the majority of people just use the programs DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. Free, easy to use and you will get all the help you need and there are good guides on how to use. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/small_dvd_2_dvdr.cfm http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php
nyswonger DVD Wizard Pro isn't one of the top favorites. However in some tests, the program proved to be middle of the road, not great and not bad. 21/2 hrs is really long. The program is supposed to record in 1 hr under normal circumstances. A little over for a big movie. What are the specifications for the PC you are using, CPU and speed, amount of RAM, and size of hard drive and amount of free space? Is it a laptop or desktop unit? Besides software, the hardware makes a difference to. Since the 3.2 version of DVD Shrink came out, I feel that is a good choice for a lot of users. The program rivals many retail products. The program uses Nero as the default burner as well as the DVD Decrypter mentioned. You can get Nero as a 30 day trial. In fact you can download it every 30 days if you want to go that route. One doesn't even have to download the entire suite for Nero to be functional. You can check the Nero site. So you have some free choices. Also, Nero has the Recode2 which is a good recording program. You can use the free program DVD Decrypter to Decrypt/rip the video to use with Recode. So there are several no cost alternatives to the software you have that are considered by many to be a better choice. However, I still wonder about the hardware.
