I am new to this forum, as I've never had issues burning cds or dvds before. I ma in the process of burning some data cds on dvd because of the storage capacity. I recently this past April reloaded my machine, and since I have tried burning dvd's, I've had issues. I'm using Nero Premium 7.0. Here is a snippet of the log file i saved, to see if anyone can assist me. I'm not having any issues with burning cd-r's, just dvd-r's. If you want to see or need to see more of the log file than this, please let me know. Thank you..:

    Edit out your serial number

This first version of Nero7 contains bugs, uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and install 7.0.8.2 from here
    7.0.8.2 http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845

Not familar with these discs, try Verbatim or Sony (made in japan)

It also looks like you still have Nero 6 installed - Using interface version: 6.6.0.12
Uninstall 6 & 7 and run the clean tool - then reinstall Nero 7 from Gwen's link.
Here's the clean tool for 6 but 7's may suffice for both versions
    http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/General_CleanTool.html

You have an older drive that hasn't has any updates for awhile. So when you buy better media look for media with burn speeds rated no higher than 8x. 4x would be better if you can find it.
    Keep us posted!
    edit: fix link

That is strange because I do not even own a copy of nero 6 nor have i ever installed it on this machine. I'll have a look into that though......

As binkie7 said, it does appear to have been installed, just run Nero6 clean tool, then uninstall Nero7 and run Nero7 clean tool and then re install Nero 7.0.8.2 from the link supplied.

Ok guys, sorry for a delayed response.... busy weekend. I used the cleantool, uninstalled Nero 7 and reinstalled Nero version 7.2 because the version 7.0.8.2 wasn't installing properly. Anyways, tried burning a data dvd from my drive but it still seems to have the same issue. As for the dvd-rw I am using, I've never had a problem with them in the past. They are a brand by CompUSA put out that are easily affordable and reliable. The only assumption I could make is that I need to update my dvd drivers or something because this problem only occurred after I reloaded my operating system this past Spring. i appreciate all your help guys. Here's the log from my most recent burn this morning:

From this new log the only things that have changed is your are no longer getting this error Error on LockVolume: Access is denied
but your are getting this new error in the last log Changing the Book Type was finished with error, return code -1
Turn off this option. It doesn't look like your drive has this capability.

Now for the media - the problem with brands like CompUSA, HP, Memorex etc. is they use different manufacturers and more than likely not quality ones. can be hit or miss
Here's some reviews on CompUSA made by AML - not good:
    http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?selectmedia=2216#comments

Better to use are Verbatim or made in Japan Sony or Fuji. These go on sale too and for a good price.

I can't find any firmware update for your drive - I'm guessing this is a laptop? You may need to check with the manufacturer to see if there is one but from your log your drive fully recognizes these discs.

Turn off the booktyping and let's see how that goes.

First off, it's not really a good idea just to hijack another thread.
    Edit out your serial number

your Nero is a few versions behind, update to this version (NOT 7.2.0.3/b) http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845

DMA needs to be on, heres a guide to turn on, http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038

I dont see your DMA for the burner, firmware update available here http://www.liteonit.com/DOWNLOADS/ODD/SOHW-1673S/firmware/DR16JS0D.zip

Try and free up some memory, dont multitask while burning.

Burner doesnt recognize discs, hopefully firmware update will solve that

    Slow to 4X

[bold]As for all the drivers at the end of the log, I havent seen any of them before[/bold]

I cannot understand why you installed 7.2.0.3 after I suggested not to as it was "buggy"

I changed the Book Type setting to "current recorder setting" beacuse it did not appear I could just plain turn it off with the nero burning rom.

I understand what you mean about buying a good name brand cd. Usually I will, but when I bought these earlier this spring, they were for a real good price and I have burn roughly 30 out of the 50 dvd-r's without a problem. since reloading my system have these issues come about.

Yes it is a laptop. hp pvaillion zd7260us. I checked hp's website for driver updates, but nothing for the cd/dvd drive.

I tried a new burn changing what you thought might help as I stated above and seeming to have issues with burning at the same point in the process. Here's the log:

I advised you earlier in the thread about using 7.2.0.3 and your poor choice of media however you chose to ignore my recommendations.

You now have Roxio installed, it clashes with Nero I can recommend running this zapper,http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

but I doubt you'll do that either.

We here at AD spend our time reading these logs but we cannot make members follow our suggestions, you have been given suggestions by others and have also ignored them as well, it appears you don't want to solve your problem.
