For some reason my dvd writer does not see some dvd's. It sees some but not others. Tried to use my cleaner but it keeps telling me the drive is empty. I've used the cleaner before but now it doesn't work. Had this problem before but I don't remember the fix. Isn't there a download that tells your drive what types of disks to recognise or something like that?
I'm trying to understand what is a "cleaner" or what do you mean by "cleaner"? In order for others to help you better, you need to be more specific i.e. give out your dvd writer's name/brand, what dvd/movie you're trying to read or write, what blank medias you're using, etc.
A DVD disk cleaner; or laser disk cleaner. Is there another kind of cleaner you can put in a DVD Writer? I'll try anything. Why does it recognise some dvd's and not others? Wierd. I think the fix has something to do with firmware, except I don't know where to go to update that. Any clues?
Oh, OK I'm using a Sony 500A DVD Writer, sony dvd-r disks. And when I put in a movie called Alien Abduction or my DVD Hyperbrush laser lens cleaner into my burner and click on open it says"please insert a disk". It just doesn't see the disk that's in there. However, it will see other disks.
I went to Sony and downloaded the latest update for the firmware for sony dru 500a. Turns out I already had the latest version and reinstalling it didn't help. Now I'm out of ideas.
