I have a DVD Writer (SONY DVD RW DRU-720A) It worked well, but today i have a problem with it. It doesnot accept the blank DVDs to write (I tried with a couple of Verbatim DVD+R). It does not care a disc is in the drive. Even worse, it does not even recognise the DVD (DVD+R, again) which was recorded (just a DATA DVD) using this writer. It now says [bold] Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is compatible with Windows [/bold]. When tried with the recodring program (NERO - the same used to write earlier), the program identifies the (data) DVD as a black disc. These DATA DVDs are still working ok with other DVD/RW combo drives I just tried. More about the problematics DVD writer: Still works ok with CD-RW/CD-R/CD. It is capable of working with DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, CD-R/RW. Any idea what I can do to get the driver work with DVD+R. thanks in advance. Seeker.
mahesan, Welcome to the forum, Try going into Device Manager and uninstalling the burner, re-boot and see if Windows picks the burner up and loads it properly. Have you updated the burner's firmware. If not go to the manuf. website and update it. W/in Device Manager make sure you have no Yellow warning flags showing anywhere
car mike thank you for your kind reply I shall try removing the device and restart but it still works with CD/RW I am wondering if it might be because of my use of AnyDVD trial version (it is expired now). If that is the case, will it be reversible? Mahesan
mahesan, You can uninstall AnyDVD using Add/Remove Program. It would not have caused your problem. You can also d/l DVDDecrypter http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm or use DVDFab Decrypter from here also: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvdfab_decrypter.cfm. Both programs will rip the Movie to HD for you
calm down use this program to see what your drive is actually capable of doing it's called vso inspector http://www.vso-software.fr/inspector.htm it's free and will tell you what to expect from your drive will also let you address any media if you think they could be causing prob's as far as corruption here is another freebie that will inspect the disk ar the file might also be able to fix the problem link for cd check http://www.elpros.si/CDCheck/ also are you using any form of test write options instead of writing as I remember not that long ago someone was stumped on that one let us know if you are unable to fix the prob
