Hi, I just burned a dvd using this "how-to" http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/141024.php#dvd9dvd2one
I did EXACTLY what it said, but when I tried playing the dvd in 3 different stand alone players, all the dvd did was spin. Nothing happend. It didn't even play in my dvd-rom drive. Please tell me what I am doing wrong, thanks.

Did you use Nero or Copy to DVD ?

I use Nero and burn in the DVD-rom UDF/ISO mode.
The first 2 copies I burned I used the DVD-video mode and they didn't play in all standalone players. So I suggest to use DVD2one and then burn the VIDEO_TS directory with Nero.
Did it like 50 times and they work fine.

works fine in all standalone DVD players.

You will need to burn all files with nero after loading them into the VIDEO_TS folder in Nero DVD-Video [UDF] Mode.

A typical VIDEO_ST folder of a DVD is similar to :

    VIDEO_TS BUP 16,384
    VIDEO_TS IFO 16,384
    VIDEO_TS VOB 43,008
    VTS_01_0 BUP 77,824
    VTS_01_0 IFO 77,824
    VTS_01_0 VOB 1,695,744
    VTS_01_1 VOB 1,073,565,696\
VTS_01_2 VOB 1,048,565,696 \ <-- This is the Main movie
    VTS_01_3 VOB 1,048,565,696 /
    VTS_01_4 VOB 589,365,248 /
    VTS_02_0 BUP 18,432
    VTS_02_0 IFO 18,432
    VTS_02_0 VOB 43,008
    VTS_02_1 VOB 6,014,976

You will need to burn files that look just like that

In Nero just click on red VIDEO_TS folder then add all files...BURN !: )

Nothing needs to be added to the AUDIO_TS folder (you're right)

There is already a AUDIO_TS folder aswell as a VIDEO_TS folder in Nero if you're in UDF Mode [not ISO] and have gone to burn a DVD-Video so as .BUP .VOB .IFO files are the only files Nero will allow.

    Hope this helps

I don't mean to sound like a jerk but look at this

If you did exactly what it said then it should play. I think to get help you need to be more specific and beakdown each step of what you did. not what the tutorial says. By saying you did what it says you are saying that the tutorial is wrong and we should figure out whats wrong with it. just my .02 cents.

    Must be bad media !

Try to use good quality media like Verbatim, Fuji or others.

Try using smartripper to rip movie files to your hd. Open dvd2one and source these files then choose your destination folder. Once dvd2one has completed its task rename the compressed folder to VIDEO_TS and burn as a data file. This method worked fine for me.

Honestly it seems as far as DVD burning goes, Nero isn't always up to the job. It's getting better but it's not there yet. RecordNow Max does a better job for me since my Nero burns (UDF mode or the Video premade dirs) do not work in my Xbox but the discs I've done with RNM work fine in everything.
