Have any of you come across a movie which DVD2One cannot handle. I am using version 113 and have to admit it can do everything I chuck at it except for the DVDs in my collection that are really scratched badly. From what I understand it can do all episode DVDs, all regions even 3 hour movies can turn out clear and crisp. I always capture in WHOLE disc mode as the quality is almost identical to when encoding in MOVIE only mode. This is without a doubt THE best software I ever purchased.
Well, i always use DVD Shrink. If DVD Shrink cant handle it i bring out DVD Decrypter. If it cant do it, there is no hope!! Chris
Oriphus, why do you choose to use DVD Shrink over DVD2One is there any specific reason? I have never tried DVD Shrink, does it encode better quality over DVD2One? Thanks,
DVD Shrink is very easy to use. It both rips and compresses and does it at a quality that is the same as any other tool available. However, i dont use DVD Shrink for programs that need more than 40% compression, i bring out DVD2One and its movie only mode. Just a habit. Here is the program and user guide for DVD Shrink: http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/dvd_shrink.htm
The only edge that I have ever seen with DVD2One over DVD Shrink is that it can be quicker (depending on how fast you can decrypt with dvd decrypter, which is dependent then on your DVD Rom) I have test ripped/compressed a disc (full disc)to see what the quality was with DVD2ONE and DVDshrink and they look the same. I had to recheck the same scenes a few times just to make sure. No edge in quality over DVD shrink IMHO. The one other edge beside a slightly quicker compress time is that it can compress beyond 50% but I am sure the quality will be sub VHS quality. Oh yeah, that myth about "just like the original" is just that, a myth.
I find DVD Shrink quicker than DVD2One most of the time, when u take into account the ripping process!
