I've recently started using DVD XCopy Xpress and have made a few observations and subsequently have a couple of questions about the software: -I have noticed that it burns a disclaimer screen at the beginning of each DVD which is as annoying as an FBI warning at the beginning of a commercial DVD. Is there anyway around having this copied? -Express takes on an average (on my machine) 1 hr and 15 min to copy a standard DVD to my hard drive. I am using a Pioneer A05. I read in some of the forums that it could have been because my DVD burner and my CD burner were both running off the same IDE cable with the burner set to master. I did recently put them on separate cables running into separate IDE ports and have noticed no increase in speed; it still takes about 1.15min to copy a DVD to the hard drive. Is this just a standard time? -This is my biggest problem with DVD XCopy Express; when it copies your DVD image to the hard drive, it deletes it after the disc is burned. So what if you're making two copies? Or you glitch out and have to start over? You have to re rip another hard drive image and lose another hour and fifteen minutes? This makes no sense and if there's no way around this I can't see continuing to use this software. -As a result of the above problem with the temp image being automatically deleted from the hard drive after a burn, I've been using the DVD Decrypter-->DVD2one-->Nero method. Decrypter is lightening fast, and DVD2One is pretty quick at compressing DVD-9 to DVD-5. And of course Nero is real fast in burning the VOB files. I've been using this method as opposed to the DVD X Copy Express because the leave the VOB files on the hard drive so if I'm making two copies, or if it glitches, then I still have on the hard drive. But what I've noticed (and maybe it's just me) is that the compression seems to be a bit better using Xpress than Decrypter-->DVD2one-->Nero. I don't know why, and maybe I'm just nit picking picture quality but there seems to be a lot more artifacting and ghosting using DVD2One than Express. But Xpress, aside from the problems I've mentioned above, also seems to be less stable when it comes to glitches. For instance, I burned two copies of the same disc using Xpress and they both played fine until the last chapter and then they stated freezing up etc. With the same disc, I used the Decrypter-->DVD2one-->Nero method and it worked fine and had no problems in the last chapter. And this has happened on about 3 different DVD's that I know of so it¡¦s definitely a software issue. In closing, I would like to use DVD Xcopy Xpress because it seems (although it's slow) to be the easiest to use DVD-9 to 5 conversion software out there with great compression. But it's been (for me) buggy a few times where VOB files using Nero wasn't, it burns the disclaimer page at the beginning which I find annoying, it deletes the image file on your hard drive forcing you to re rip it if you encounter an error or are burning more than 1 copy of the same DVD. If someone (or several people) would chime in here with their 2 cents I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks, ja
I've used DVD Decrypter or Smartripper (either or) DVD2One Nero for absolutely ages & do not encounter coasters at all. Although due to posting on here I've been trying out different other software & out of them DVD Shrink seems interesting (a few slight problems that maybe need sorting...like audio for instance) DVDXcopy I wont even discuss cos it's pants !! (that being underpants..and skid stained ones at that)
Herbsman whats the address for that firmware upgrade you gave me to increase your read speed from 2.1x to around 4x? i've lost it again! :-[
I agree with herbsman. That combo of software works really well for me, no doubt about it. Only other software I've tried was dvdshrink 2.2 and i had few problems. Dvd2one is far more better than Xcopy Series. Since having dvd2one 1.2 I have removed the Xcopy series from my computer.
All we need now is a combination of the Graphical User interface that DVD Shrink gives us, and the quality of DVD2One and we have a winner. Chris
UPDATE: There is a way to save the DVD X COPY Xpress files to your hard drive but I guess I'm not allowed to talk about it in this forum.
Devon Thats a no no discussing that in this forum. cheezzzz_X_X_X_X_X_[small]Just another lonely Hawaiian with: P4 2.66Ghz, 120gb HD (7200rpm) 2X512mb DDR333 (PC2700) SDRAM Sony DVD RW DW-U12A(OEM for DRU500AX) DXCXpress v2.52 online if needed Smartipper/DvdDecrypter Dvd2one/Nero 551035 Enterprise Ed[/small]
Please note DVDXCopy/Xpress forums do not allow discussion of other ways of ripping DVDs other than via DVDXCopy/Xpress.
Jevon There are legal implications involved with 321Studios and the movie industry. That's why the disclaimer at the beginning. It's whether you own the movie or not. Go to the link herbsman provided and you can see what I mean. cheezzzz_X_X_X_X_X_[small]Just another lonely Hawaiian with: P4 2.66Ghz, 120gb HD (7200rpm) 2X512mb DDR333 (PC2700) SDRAM Sony DVD RW DW-U12A(OEM for DRU500AX) DXCXpress v2.52 online if needed Smartipper/DvdDecrypter Dvd2one/Nero 551035 Enterprise Ed[/small]
Jevon- I appreciate the help. Actually, somebody emailed my privately and told me how to get around it. Apparently it's a "no-no" because part of 321's case is that it would be too inconvenient and time consuming for professional pirates to mass produce copies of a single DVD (because among other things it deletes the temp file) While I can understand why 321 implemented this feature into their software, it can be a major inconvenience to fair use users who don't know how to get around it because if there is a glitch etc. then you have to re-rip the whole thing. As for people who are illegally using the software, there will always be people taking advantage and breaking the law. 321 has covered their selves under the right to fair use and the disclaimer added at the beginning. I don't think deleting the temp file is necessary because there is a fairly easy way around it. And do you know how I'm not a pirate? Because if I were I would already have known how to get around it; that's my problem with it. It will probably only be legal fair use users who suffer from having the temp file deleted, not pirates. It's part of their job to know how to cheat and manipulate for financial gain. Just my 2 cents, but I do appreciate your trying to help me. junko
Easy way to get pass that Logo don't use their software....Use DVD Decrypter and Elby CloneDVD... First time i saw that logo on one of my dvd i broke the dvd and never used 321 Studios software since.
Yo junko, Try exploring in Shrink DVD bacause it not only allows you to discard the unwanting stuff but you can actually choose the compression rate manually as long as it fits into one DVD+R. In other words, you have a choice to take off more stuff to have a better resolution movie or losing abit of resolution for keeping some of the menus.
