I have used the latest version of DVD43 to back up some of my DVDs.

Within the past 2 days, I have purchased Nero 7 Premium (aka: Nero Start Smart 6- upgraded). When I attempt to uninstall Nero 6 – I find upon reboot – that DVD43 doesn’t work or even show up on my launch bar. The message I get in a separate window is that Unable to start DVD43 as the driver has to be up-to-date and active. When I attempt to re-download and install DVD43 3.7.0 – I get a window that says the program is already running and when I attempt to click on the ‘gray’ happy face – I am told the driver is unavailable.

I have loaded and re-loaded Nero 7 and to get it to function – requires a re-boot. Upon rebooting, the window pops up that says the driver for DVD43 is not up to date or active. When I then run set up from a downloaded version – a window advises me to re-boot for it to function. Upon rebooting, the window again tells me it can’t find a suitable driver for DVD43.

I’ve gone back (Windows XP – latest upgrades) using restore – prior to downloading and installing Nero 7 and the DVD43 WORKS!

Any ideas on how to fix the problem with DVD43 & Nero 7?

I would greatly appreciate it - THANKS

    1. The statement Nero 6 upgraded meant Nero 7
    2. I tried all of the cleaning tools and re-booted.
    3. DVD43 driver again failed
    4. I re-installed Nero 7 & re-booted
    5. DVD43 driver failed
    6. I re-installed DVD43 and rebooted
    7. IT WORKED!
    Thank you for your assistance.

    @somhay

I learned the same lesson sometimes back of the same problem with NERO and DVD43. I soon learned that everytime that I updated NERO, DVD43 would not work. I had to uninstall DVD43 at the same time I uninstalled the old version of NERO. Then after updating NERO, I reinstalled DVD43.

Now you will remember the same lesson next time you update NERO.

By the way, I don't have the same problem with ANYDVD. When I updated to latest version of NERO just recently, ANYDVD continued working in the background.....

I also wanted to thank gwendolyn for helping solve this very same problem which occurred when I installed Nero 7 Ultra Edition. Also thanks to somhay for posting the problem to begin with here on afterdawn.com. I found this site and the answer to my problem after searching for help via Google.

I followed the procedures detailed by gwendolyn & somhay, and voila! It was fixed just like it said it should be! F/Y/I, I happened to incur separate a problem loading Nero 7, as during the intall process, it said there were "incorrect drivers" and it disconnected both my internal and my external CD/DVD burners--horrors! Then I couldn't use the drives at all! Copying the Nero installation CD to one of our network servers and installing from there didn't cure the problem either. After consulting a knowledgeable friend, I was given the solution:

    - Do a system restore to get back to before I had tried to install the NERO 7 and all my drives worked. (reboot.)
    - UNPLUG and USB storage devices & drives
    - Only the internal CD/DVD drive showed as usuable
    - Install Nero 7 normally via the installation CD (reboot.)
    - Let everything boot up and then plug in the external USB devices. Voila, all the drives were back where they belonged.

Hope this helps anyone else who might have this problem !
