Over the last couple of days I noticed talk about Dvd43 on the forums, so out of boredom and curiosity decided to give it a try.
I installed the little program, re-booted and there it was with a strange look on it's face sitting in the system tray. Realising that, it too, was probably bored (hence the glum expression) I decided to give it something to do.
I popped an original copy of The Glass House into my dvd rom and a blank Datawrite Yellow -Ritek G04 4Xspeed- into my Pioneer 107 (with 1.13 hacked firmware). Opened up Nero Recode 2 and set it to burn from one drive to the other without leaving a copy on the hard drive, but using the Nero Recode folder as the temp.
Now I realise that The Glass House is only 4.4Gb in size and did not need any compression but bloody hell, it did the whole thing in 13 minutes and 18 seconds. I hardly had time to cook my bacon and eggs..!
My normal method would be Shrink and Nero. On a film of this size I may even have used Dvd Decrypter in Iso Read and then Iso write.
This is the first time I have tried this but I will probably be using it a lot more in the future.

C'mon ... that's a bit fast for recode. Even on my dell it takes about 45 min.

Sorry for the delay, had to eat my bacon and eggs before they went cold.
Bear in mind that the dvd did not need compressing and the hacked 107 writes to a 4xspeed disc at 8xspeed. Try it yourself using a small film.
Suck it and see, as they say.

    agent-k,

One thing you could do.. If you keep DVD43. There have been specultion that DVD43 runs out after 30 days(ie.might be a trial version). DVD43 is suppose to be free.. so if you do keep it that long, can you post about it? Thanks.

    No problem Flip,
I did notice on a website somewhere yesterday that there are 2 versions of the same program going around. One is free and the other one isn't.
I'll go and have a browse around and get back to you.

From what I understand V2 expires after 30 days and V1.4 is the freeware version. They both can be downloaded through AD's software section under rippers.

Afterdawn said it was freeware to. They just recently changed it. If the 2.071 version stops working then it is a hacked version because it even says its free in the read me and claims to be from the same people.
The DVD43 web site says there is no official version 2.

Lots of weird stuff going on about DVD43 ver 2 and whether it's free or not. I downloaded from AD and the readme says it's free and not to pay for it but others are getting the "pay now" pop up.

I'm thouroughly confused on the subject.

Look here for answer http://dvd43.com/ . The official web site says the only free one is V1.4.
