i was a frequent reader/poster here a while ago (forgot my old SN so had to re-register). However its been about 3-4 years since i've visited (yea some big life changes) so im a bit out of the loop. Well basically i bought a buncha dvd's from the DDD 20% discount and i wanted to make back up copies of most of them (especially the limited edition ones and disney ones). Wat i basically wanted to know is if there were any simple ways to make 1:1 backups using dual layer dvd-r's. (and if so do u have any tips as to which blanks work well) I currently have a nec 3400 (i think?). Is this possible? I post only becuz my nephews are coming to my place for thanksgiving and i would prefer they play with the copies since they have a tendency to throw dvd's as frisbees =P. Thanks!
here is a great guide to follow to make 1:1 copies using DL media. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/Copying a Dual Layer DVD in DVD Decrypter.pdf A couple steps that you will need to do 1st, is to make sure your drive has been updated with the latest firmware, and if your drive supports book typeing, you will want to make sure you book type your DL + media to DVD-ROM. Also make sure you use good DL media. It seems everyone has the best luck with the Verbatim DL media. I have used many of these with great success. I have also had good success using Ridata DL media. Hope this helps.
