DVDDecrypter, Nero Recode, ICOPY DVDs2; Am I doing this right?

DDVDecrypter works fine. I have several video_ts files I want to burn. I have both ICOPY DVDs2 and NERO 6.0 Ultra.

Using ICOPY I can burn the entire file and it automatically shrinks it to one DVD. It must be compressing the files, but according the ICOPY, there is no loss in quality. Hmm. Sounds too good.

Using NERO (total newbie, I plunked around and eventually figured out to use RECODE) it can burn the entire file too and will compress it automatically. I can also remove files and burn a less compressed disc.

    Questions:

    1. I have burned both DVD-R and DVD+R with no problems (using Great Quality discs from Fry's). My Toshiba DVD/TV combo won't read the DVD+R discs. It reads most of the DVD-R discs, not all. Would a change in media make a difference? Can the firmware on a TV/DVD combo be upgraded?

    2. When deciding to "shrink" the video_ts files using NERO RECODE, which file contains the main movie? There seem to be many the same size but have different names by one number.

    3. Am I missing anything? I stumbled into using NERO and my version seems to be different than the ones I've seen on the "How to" sites posted here.

Thanks for any help. Just hoping to make a few backups to protect my dvd investment.

What's this got to do with PS2?

You are probably looking at the .vobs in the VIDEO_TS folder. You actually just need to import the entire VIDEO_TS folder....

Then Recode will just show the main movie.

I'm not sure I followed you. When I open up the main movie directory in RECODE it shows two or three files with the same size. 1.8 gigs or so. They all have the same name, but different numbers in the name line. Can't show you cause I'm at work now.

Just want to select the main movie and ignore other stuff so it fits on to one disc w/o much compression.

p.s. Sorry hit send too many times.

There is a preview screen so highlight one of the files in question and play it.

If you can post a screenshot I'd like to see what you are actually getting.
In the example I posted I just get a single "main movie" with one title. If you get more than one title 1 you may have different versions of the same movie to choose from, widescreen, fullscreen etc.

    Edit:
Well thats one way to add to your post count! ;)
