I am thinking of getting one of these programs to put videos onto my ipod. Anyone have any input as to which one.

Both have free trials - so try them out 1st.
I've used CloneMobile on a couple for my Zen W and did a decent job.

If you have Nero by chance Recode will also do iPods - that one I prefer for the iPod - just my preference though I haven't tried the other 2 for iPods.

    Hi Binkie7,

I do have Nero v6. What I have been using presently is DVDFab Decrypter to get the video and then Recode to do the mp4. I've been reading though that the video for the iPod should be an H.xxx (forgot the numbers) format. On my version of Recode, I have the option for 'Portable AVC', but when I burned that, and added to iTunes, it gave me a message that it could not be added to the iPod because of wrong format or something like that.

I've been playing around with a TV series episodes. (I just got the iPod yesterday) I uncheck 'fit to target' and in the audio settings, I change the kbit/s to 96. I changed it to 96, because the volume didn't seem as loud as my music, but I don't think changing it had any effect on the volume.

What version of Nero are you using? Would appreciate your input into the settings you use. The mp4 files do seem to work OK on my iPod.

Ah I use Nero 7 and Nero 8 (2 different pc's) - those versions have a profile just for iPod which I use. You pick that instead of the portable one.
Clone and DVDFab also have profiles for the iPod - I've just never used them for that cause I liked Nero. I wish Nero had one for the Zen too.

Nero does have a trial of 8 you might want to give a shot. You would need to uninstall 6 (write down you serial # 1st) then install Nero 8.

I'm going to move this thread down to the iPod section and close the other thread in the iPod forum - we'll stick w/ this one.

Thanks for the help. How do you like Nero 8? Maybe I should just upgrade to that. I don't know if Nero 7 is still available. Will have to check out Nero's site and see about the trial version.

I almost couldn't find my thread <grn> Thanks for moving it. Didn't know which category was best to post to.

Nero 8 has a much different interface then 6 or 7 so that will look different. So far I'm fine with it.
I'd give the trial a go 1st before buying though.
Here's a guide on Recode and iPod - link.
It's really pretty simple - just a few clicks and it will convert and then transfer to the iPod.

Not a problem on the help or moving the thread :)

Thanks for the link. Good guide. So far I haven't had any problems with using Nero 7 and mp4 files. Your guide for Nero 8 seems easier though.

    Thanks again.
