    Ok, here's my problem...

So I have a VIA VT6421 chipset with a SATA cable trailing into the SATA port on the back of my LiteOn, I made the homemade probe using the stickied guide, and my spring is resting in my R707 hole.
*Clicks "Get key, Create Dummy.bin, Open as Source"*
    AND BAM!

Instantaneous freeze with this message stuck on the log window.
"Sending DVDKey request to 0xC800 and COM4"

    So uh...
    Why does it freeze?

This has been posted many times and is on the JF tut

    As posted by Leerage

JF requires PortIO, do you have that installed?

Sometimes the VIA driver can cause problems. To remove it:

    1. Disable VIA card in Device Manager.
    2. Go to C:/WINDOWS/system32/drivers and remove "viamraid.sys" or "vsmraid.sys".
    3. Re-Enable VIA card in Device Manager.
    4. Re-Boot PC.
    5. Load up JF and see if you are able to detect the drive.

I have PortIO32 installed on my system...
And JF can detect the drive and everything, it just freezes at the command to start dumping.

    NOW to the VIA drivers.

I was hoping that I could get away with at least grabbing the key off the drive.
However when this failed, I disabled my VIA card, deleted EVERY .sys file in the system32/drivers folder that had to do with my VIA card (including viamraid.sys) (Everything that said VIA Incorporated or whatever on the company name), rebooted, and what does my computer do?
    IT REINSTALLS VSMRAID.SYS and VIAIDE.SYS
And I check device manager and it doesn't appear as a yellow question mark device. Instead it's back under "Storage Controllers" reading as
    "VIA VT6421 RAID Controller" again.

It's very frustrating, so am I missing a driver I have to delete or something?

After frustratingly deleting all the drivers again
this time they did not reinstall...

However, JF still continues to freeze on the same error message as before
"Sending DVDKey request to I/O port 0xC800 and COM4"

I have .NET framework 3.0 installed on my system and everything, and if it was my probe it would say
    "Bad serial data" right?

Running DVDKey32 externally in it's standalone command prompt proggy gives me a blinking input thing

It just blinks there while Im holding my spring in the R707 hole for like 2 minutes...

I might just have someone flash this for me... Even though all I really need is the bin files...

Anyone in the Austin, TX area willing to dump the key for a reasonable price? XD

Confusing. They won't reinstall if you delete the driver. Is your OS 64 bit?

I deleted the drivers and this time they didn't reinstall.
    And my OS is x32...

I have no clue what could be happening.
Made the probe, hooked it up with a prolific serial to USB adapter, and it just freezes after all the money I spent trying to do this.

Are you following the JF guide? I've heard the homemade probes don't always work. Spend the $10 and get one that lights up when you touch the right point. Then you'll know you doing it right.

I am following the JF guide.
I could have sworn that those probes cost more than $10 by the way...

    Just another quick question:

If my drive status on my xbox 360 is saying "opening" but its really about halfway closed...

You get the picture, is this correct? Or is my 360 supposed to be saying "open tray"?

    I DON'T BELIEVE THIS
    I didn't have SP1 of 3.5 installed! XD
    Only normal 3.5...

I will see if it works in a while I guess...

Can't see that making a difference but go for it. The probe is $10 but the kit all together is like $50. If no disc is in the drive "Open tray" is normal. If you put a disc in and it says that, something is wrong.
