Could it be that my DVD-ROM is just outdated?
I'm pretty sure I burned my dvd correctly.
I burned a DVD+R booktyped to DVD-ROM, but the drive won't read it. Neither will my dvd player.

I'm assuming it's because the two players are old. But I have no way of confirming that. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. In my case my DVD-ROM dirve will not read +R or -R written DVD's, because its several years old and does not recognise the format. However when I change the booktype on the +R's to DVD-ROM my old reader reads them fine.
