    Hey everyone,
I have an nec burner and used ritek dvdr's. I burnt something on a dvdr and foolishly didn't lable it. I see that it's burned by looking at the opposite side. When i insert it to my pc or my 7 year old sony vaio pc nothing happens after it spins. When i go to my computer it says cd-rom. I don't know if the media is cd or the drive turns to the cd-rom. This also happened on my friends pc when he inserted a different dvdr into his dvd-rom drive. All pc's have win xp. 2 are amd64 and one is a pII. Thanks everyone:)

im having the exact problem, its makin me crazy - anyone know the fix?? every time i put in a blank dvd the drive changes to read "cd drive" under my computer. then it changes back on restart.

i havent done anything i can think of to change system recently, but admittedly i dont know how long the issue has been present, as i havent been burning disks for a while

This just started for me a few days ago. It happened to my friends computer about a month ago. He isn't connected to the internet and we connect him about every 6 months to update windows. Any help would be great.

I get a burner it has similar problem only after it has been on for some time. Can you try it when it just turns on as it is still cool? I guess thermal design of some burners may not good.
