hi everyone, first of all I am sorry that my first post is a request for help, I have used the search feature and altho I did find a simmilar problem it wasnt the same.

ok I will start from the beginning. I took my computer to a repair shop that promiced to put xp onto my computer because i hate vista (dont we all). anyway after 3 days humming and hawing they gave me a call and told me that infact they didnt need to put xp onto it as the problem with my computer was the dvd writer (problem there was no problem with it i just wanted to downgrade) so they charged me £70 for a new dvd re writer. when i got the computer home i put a factory disc in it (tweenies i think it was) and it was fine.

now i have just finnished using convertex as i usually do (havent done since getting the computer back) and my dvd re writer isnt recognising blank media, it says please insert disc into drive D:

i went thru the usual suspects, made sure the drivers were there etc (factory dvd's and cd's play no problem) and aparently it is working fine.

other than taking my tower back to them and using extreme violence can someone please help me to solve this problem.

    Thank you in advance

Well I guess if you had searched you would have found along with about 200 topics with the exact same problem (try using a burning program.. check drive properties etc etc etc) you would also have seen a large topic regarding thread titles?

I am sorry about the title i have edited it. i will re search the problem, the threads i saw seemed to be about new external re writers and seemed to be about burners not recognising any disc at all. i will re search and apolodise for starting a new thread when i musnt have searched properly.

please excuse my spelling and puntuation i am trying my best but have add my brain goes faster than my fingers.
