Why has nero "assumed" that the general consensus only want speed, and are not interested in error free or quality? I have an 8 speed burner! Why cos it's nice to have that option for the right circumstance.
Why does nero not allow u to burn at slower speeds? My question is, is there a way of reducing the speed options aswell as having a fast option?

    This gives me the shits!

It depends on the disc, Nero is just responding to the media/hardware used and showing what it can burn it at, it might basically just be guessing seeing as you have an older burner. Many media will show different burn speed options in Nero.

I'm interested in both and find that my Verbatim 16X (MCC code) burned at 16X produce very high qualty burns in both my Benq and LG. With the correct burner/media match slower speeds are not needed. That said an 8X burner is old technology and is not optimized for the newer media. Firmware updates on newer burners are meant to improve on the write stategies for today's media.
