I just purchased seasons 1 & 2 of HEX from the UK. They can not be purchased here in the U.S. so I had to go to the source. I was surprised when I looked at the disc information in Any Dvd. Wow, the Europeans really believe in locking down their DVDs! I have looked at my fair share of TV shows on DVD here in the states, and I do not know if I have ever seen a single one of them that had something more than just CSS. These Hex discs are loaded with protection as the following will attest: Media is a Data DVD. Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite) Size of first Layer: 2084960 sectors (4072 MBytes) Total size: 4169920 sectors (8144 MBytes) Video DVD (or CD) label: HEX_SERIES_1_DISC_1 Media is CSS protected! Video Standard: PAL Media is locked to region(s): 2 4! RCE protection not found. DVD structure appears to be correct. Found & removed structural copy protection (Arccos, Puppetlock)! Found & removed invalid VOBUs! Autorun not found on Video DVD. Found & removed 3 bad sector protections! Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 2! I do not think I am going to back them up, however, since I do not have the need to watch an entire series over and over, but mostly because my DVD player plays all regions and PAL format, but that is a lot of protection for a TV show in my opinion.
