My friend recently purchased some DVDs labeled as 8X, but when he burns on them they take like half an hour to burn. It usually only takes him 8 mins to burn 8X dvds. Could it be that the dvds were just labbeled wrong or is it something else? has anyone else had this problem?

what kind of media is it? if he has burned at 8x b4 then they might be labeled wrong. tell him not to burn at 8x anyway, he will get better quality at 4x. he may have also accidentally switched something in his setup and burning programs. tell him to go through and check what the writing speed is set at.

I would not stress this issue to much. Unless your pal is stressed for time, 4x is a safe bet. I have burned tons of movies on 4x and have yet to make a coaster. check the medium though. Ive been using ridata or maxell (when i find them on sale)
