    Hey guys,
    I've been burning for a while now and up until recently I have always just been backing up my DVD's (copying them) and they would work fine on my DVD player. But recently I have started to convert .avi files to dvd with winavi video converter and burned them with nero and they will play fine on my portable dvd player but wont read on my kawasaki dvd player. I use dvd+r discs and I figure that maybe if I use dvd-r, they will work with the kawasaki. I'm not sure if there is anything I am blatantl not doing that prevents them from working on the kawasaki. As I said, the copied dvds that I backed up work fine on the kawasaki, it is just the converted ones from .avi. Thanks for the help!

    Hello.

    Try a different conversion program. All the following have free trials.

    VSO's ConvertXtoDVD: http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/
    DVD Copy 4 Platinum: http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/InterVideoDVDCopy_Profile.jsp
    TMPGEnc Express 3: http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/te3xp.html
    DVD Santa: http://www.dvdsanta.com/
    The Film Machine: http://members.home.nl/thefilmmachine/
    NeroVision: http://ww2.nero.com/enu/index.html

    ConvertX and DVD Santa both watermark the trial version output. ConvertX is very popular around here with lots of people.

    You could also try creating just an ISO file with the software and then burning that with your burning software of choice.

    The problem could also be due to using poorer quality media, burning too fast, or out of date burner firmware.

    How do you create an ISO file from your converted AVI files. I have used Cucusoft Converter Pro to convert AVI files to Dvd-video files and I love this program and I don't want to try any other programs. But when I try to use Nero I have to transcode when burning which adds unnecessary time to burning software since they are already authored with Cucusoft Converter Pro 7.07. I have NEC 3550A Dual Layer drive and 8x Legacy DVD-R and Ri-Tek RiData 16x DVD+16

    @novicebb

    If Cucusoft outputs a folder of VOB files, why can't those be burned by Nero?

    Use Nero Express or Nero Burning ROM.

    Guide: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/burn with nero.pdf

    If the files are too big to fit the blank disk, use Nero Recode to compress and burn.

    If the converted file can be played on your pc,that may not be due to conversion software. If the burned disc just can't play by the specific dvd player, that maybe the disc isn't suitable for the player. You can visit videohelp.com to find more informations to fix it.
