Those office depot verbatims should be very good, depending if your firmware can handle it. With the newer 16x media and older dvd-rw drives, sometimes the firmware has to be updated. Verbatim in the 8x and 16x speed are pretty much MCC. It's the 4x speed that can contain MCC/Ricohjpn. Both very good, but then there are some Cmags thrown into the verbatim name, not very good. I like the Verbatims that say, Data Life Plus. You sound like me,liking the local on sale media. Keep an eye on Office depot, They have lots of sales on their maxell and Office depot brand media. Those Office Depot 8x 100 pack spindles are made by Ritek and are very good.I'm not sure of their smaller packs of Office Depot brand. I like Staples for their japanese Sony +1x-8x that are Yuden-000-T02. Very sweet! Memorex: AKA MEMOSUX! Wouldn't risk it. For the same on sale price, and usually cheaper, you can get the Yuden000-T02 on the sony and fujis, SonyD11/Sony08d1/Maxell-002-00/maxell and office depot riteks.Memorex does use a lot of cmag media.Along with TDK plus format and HP.
teflonmyk, the link isn't working. saugmon, thanks so much. I hope my new Verbs will work with my DVD-RW drive.
Sorry http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/service/support/article/0,,2076_4249_39099161,00.html Look under firmware heading on the linked page and click on DVR107D_FW121.exe...
Ok I unzipped and tried to run the exe file but a little message popped up saying "Available Target Is Not Found"
Your drive may be the A07, and not the OEM 107D Use this firmware instead... http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/service/support/article/0,,2076_4249_39097224,00.html
The DVRupdate 0.9 link doesnt work. Ok, I did extract the files from the DVR107D_FW121.exe file and I got these 2 files. Should I delete the UPGDVD.exe file? But then I'm only left with 1 file.
Try DVRFlash... Instructions are in the zip package... http://www.dvd-recordable.org/Downloads+index-req-viewdownloaddetails-lid-97-ttitle-DVRFlash.phtml Re-download the 107D firmware. You are missing a file. The UPGDVD.exe is the file that should be deleted because it will be replaced by DVRFlash.
OK. I checked and made sure this package was complete... http://pioneerdvd.rpc1.org/#PIONEER_DCR Scroll down and find your drive...
That's it. Now unzip DVRFlash to the same folder. Then, just follow the instructions included with DVRFlash...
Ok, should my folder look like this now? I wasn't sure whether I should get the DVRFlash.exe file from the DOS or the Win32 file. Maybe it doesnt even matter which one. And then I guess I click on the DVRFlash.exe file and a DOS window will pop up? Then I type this: DVRFlash -vf E: R5100004.133 R5100104.133 E is my DVR-drive letter. Do I need to change any of those numbers or anything?
Ok I double clicked the DVRFlash.exe file and all it did was make a DOS window pop up for like 2 seconds then it went away.
may i add too, when you do your flash, don't multi-task and shut down all other applications and make sure you don't shut off power or god forbid, do it during a thunder storm and power goes out, you will fry your drive !
Ok, thanks gear79. How long does it take to do the flash? And since the DOS window when I click DVRFlash.exe won't stay up, can I just open a blank DOS window and type it in? If so, how do I open a DOS window?
