Hello, I just recently got the Aopen 1648/AAP DVD ROM drive. I installed it as a slave with the NEC3500 burner. Now when i go to open up a disc in Shrink with the AOPEN it will take longer than usual or sometimes cause DVDShrink to say 'not responding.' The bigger problem is when pressing the backup button. When I press backup it will take a while to bring up the backup option screen. I did not have this problem when I do it with the NEC3500. I already tried changing it to master and same results. Also when I am backing up the disc to the hard drive it sounds like the drive is winding up and winding down. It does this thru the whole process it seems. I need some advice/help on this. I should note this only happens when you press backup and the dvd is in the drive. If you open video files on your hard drive and press backup, the backup window pops up fine. I am thinking maybe the drive is bad.
