today it did not ask me whether i wanted to burn but went ahead and read anyway, but when it had finished reading crashing out

i have reinstalled but always the same result

    any ideas guys?

What version of express are you using? You could also update your aspi layer. ForceASPI is a good one. Have you tried to start the process without a blank in the drive?

    RyanZ06,

So far I've never had a problem with XCopy. You shouldn't have any with on 6GB. Only bad news I got for you is, you wasted your money. But alot of us did, so while your here I also suggest trying DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter if you haven't already. Both are free.

    RyanZ06,

When you open shrink, click edit, then preferences... default for dvd5 is 4464 or so. You can change it to custom and put 4300.

You'll need a program that can most likely compress and split the movie. When using shrink it will create a 4.35GB file ... and a VCD your looking at 700MB. I've never tinkered with it, but I know 321studios DVD Copy Plus will do it.

I try not to use RW's ... too expensive. But if your asking between +R or -R, I usually get +R. Also +/-R's are more compatible with my players.
