DVDXCOPY Platinum has a virus. PE_MORPH.ax It infected my computer and was hard to clean. It went into my system restore. I hate it when I download something and it hasn't been checked for a virus!
Did you get it legally or was it downloaded of P2P and craked or something? I very much doubt the official download has a virus.
It's legal. I downloaded it 3 days ago and the virus was downloaded with it. I'm going to try to redownload it in a few days. The virus definitly came with the dxc platinum. It was in my 321 folder and copied to several other folders. It took me several hours to track it down and get rid of it. I have On-Track and it tracked and deleted it.
Nope, it doesn't have. Certain tools, including McAfee include "heuristics" that analyze for "possible viruses", but there are no known viruses (and viruses at all) on the installation package -- after you mentioned this, we (as in AfterDawn -- not 321Studios who develop/sell this software) tested the installation package with 3 different virus scans with latest updates and found nothing.
I took a screen shot of the virus alert. If you can give me an email address I will email it to you. I never had a problem with 321 before and bought DVDxcopy when it first came out. I have used the product for some time now and like it. I do still think this was a virus. I have On-Track virus scanner. This is the first time I recieved a virus alert and I have downloaded software from this company many times. One thing that I did think was strange was that there were several redirects to get to the download site. This never happened before and it was confusing. My virus software is updated constantly so that is not the problem. I'm not knocking the product and have told friends about it. But I do think something is wrong. I'm not a computer programer and don't know that much about how they work.
Anyway, I suggest that you contact 321Studios to verify the issue, as AfterDawn doesn't have anything else to do with 321 other than hosting their forums.
I can verify that the DVDXCopy doesnt have a virus on it if you donwloaded it from afterdawn. Otherwise, as dRD says, go here and query it: http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com
I emailed a screenshot of the virus alert to 321 Studios but haven't heard from them yet. When I do I will let you know what their response is. I'm going to wait to hear from them before I redownload.
china2054, Make sure that your Virus Definitions are up to date and then scan your whole system. In a few cases using one certain Virus software, it will say that one of the Platinum files (I think the main exe file) is corrupted with a virus, but we have determined that this is a false report. The way that we wrap our software looks like a virus to that application because of the way that we inject the copy protection into the exe. There are viruses that act the same way, which throws off the Virus Protection software because it is not looking for a specific file, it is looking for criteria that match the activity of the virus. We do check all of the files before and after a build for viruses. We also do a virus scan on the installer and on the install directory after the software has been loaded. I assure you that there are no viruses in the software.
I've download just about everything 321 has to offer to include updates and i'm clean. Over the last 5 months i've downloaded maybe 15 products/updates. I run Norton with auto updates so I stay current. I can't believe Platinum download has a virus.
Everyone says I'm wrong and may be. I use On Track for virus detection. I tried downloading it agin but the same thing happened so maybe my virus scanner is reacting to some thing in one of the programs. I choose to ignore it. Thx
I get the same virus report. I have DVDXCOPY gold. I also use Ontrack System Suite 4.0, which includes a virus scanner. System Suite reports two infections of "PE_Morph.Ax", detected in BOTH: "Res.DLL.dll", AND "XPress.exe". This is also a legally owned and licensed version. I emailed 321, have no response yet, but just now found this thread. Sounds probable that these files have some pattern that appears to this scanner to be a virus.
Can someone give me a link to site where i can download a leigt legal download of dvd x copy platinum, that is WORKING. ,THANKS ALOT BYE...
DVD X Copy Platinum [bold]doesn't[/bold] have a virus. I tested it with 3 programs. Norton and AVG said nothing only McAfee has informed me for a virus which does not exist. It's a bug of the program (McAfee) or something in the files that "looks like" a virus. Sometimes anti-virus programs make mistakes. It's 100% sure that there is no virus though. zero: click one of the links in Afterdawn and get it, but of course you'll have to pay!
