Hi Do I need to buy an expensive DVI-HDMI cable connectors to connect my PC to my TV for best performance? Hmm, if you've checked, DVI cables are alot cheaper, length wise, and if you are going to connect your tv to a comp,(i do too)Just buy a DVI, or if you have one thats better, and just buy yourself a DVI to HDMI adapter. I have one from monster cable, i think its about 32.99$, but it was open box so i got it for around 20 dollars at Bestbuy! It works perfectly with my sony 50" widescreen wega tv.
Here's your expert opinion... I am a field tech for DirecTV and deal with the new 5 LNB Ka/Ku Dish as well as the H-20 reciever day in and day out. From a performance standpoint, thre is no difference between the Monster HDMI/DVI or any of the expensive brands of this cable, versus the not so expensive ones. I personally have a Hughes HR10-250 hooked to my DLP with a garden variety HDMI cable, and have one of the Monster Cables that a co-worker let me borrow for comparison, THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE. All the HDMI does is re-combines the video/audio signal into one cable and enables HDCP if your system supports it. Having said that it IS the BEST connection available at the moment. If you have another input on the tv that you can do this with, and use cheaper cable, that's the route I'd take. I say this because HDMI is meant to give best possible picture on an HDtv. Since your's is EDtv, I don't see it doing a lot for you. I could be wrong though. It was just a thought............. Good luck!
thanx for the helps guys...yea I noticed from other people's review of the cheaper cable one to work really good... my tv can connect HDMI and my video card DVI-I, and I have no other cables to try to connect comp to tv so I just gonna find any cable that fits. Thanks!
I just finally bought the cable from monoprice and finally got to set everything up! but somewhat the screen isn't at really great resolution though...running games looks like a 10 years ago game...movies is ok but not as good as any regular dvd player...for sure this is not about the cable but is there anything missing?
Unfortunately, an EDTV at 480p will never look as good as an HDTV with 720p or 1080i/p no matter what cable you use.
not saying that it has to be as good, but if i compared with my old lcd with only 250:1 is even better....
Just to further inflame this argument I would like to add this... I have HDTV LCD W/HDMI out, 15 pin pc, and component. My PC is DVI-I out,and 15 pin. My picture is as good as any on 15 pin PC connector so save yourself some money and stick with that if it's an option. PEACE!!!
monoprice.com is the best. I just got a DVD-HDMI cable from them this week. Cheap price and awesome cable. Output is gorgeous to my Sony XS955, running it at 720p.
