hope this is the right forum place for my question

ok i have got a graphics card with a dvi output i bought the wrong cable (thought my hdtv had dvi connections and did not)so i now have a dvi to dvi cable doing nothing,

the hdtv has vga(pc) inputs (i am useing the hdmi slot on tv for the cable box) i was thinking if i could used the dvi cable and add on to it a dvi to vga cable to make it work on the hdtv?or a dvi-vga adapter then a vga to vga cable ,

or use another way to connect my cable box and use(if it will work)dvi to hdmi cable or dvi to hdmi adaptor then hmdi to hdmi cable

    any advice would be grateful

    ty

OK i have a similar situation.
turns out I have 2 PCs, one conected to my(HDTV) by VGA
now my newer PC I wanted to conect same time, only my HDTV has a DVI(digital video) out. I tryed the DVI to VGA adaptor then used VGA to VGA and that did not work. no Signal was being passed.

anyhow Im still finding out how to use it.
but I think it has to be DVI to HDMI.
Now I need to find a way to conect HDMI to my PC, I was thinking if I used a HDMI to DVI on the PC end that might work but im not sure.
you might be able to check that out, and use DVI cable with DVI to HDMI then find a HDMI to DVI adaptor.

    I hope this helps
