Hi, I own a Pioneer DVR-109 with 1.50 firmware. I have been using Ritek G05's so far with no problem but decided to buy a couple hundred Taiyo Yuden's due to consensus opinion of general quality. They are rated for 4x burns. They are also apparently legit according to the info from DVDInfo. My problem is that when I try to use Nero (6.3.1.6) to burn a 4GB file--an encrypted container--it freezes at 8%. This happened three times before I gave up. Using these disks Nero tells me I could write at 4/6/8/12x which is a bit odd I think, as the disks are rated 1/2/4x. I have read that A08/A09 drives may need firmware updates to handle some 4x media. Mine is a 109 and I'm too lame to know if A09 and 109 are essentially the same in firmware terms. So, my question is whether anyone knows if I just need to flash up to 1.58 (which I prefer to do only if needed). Or if perhaps it is a problem with Nero. I figure it's doubtful it is the media. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. -Reejekt
