DVR to DVD+/- R

    I have a dvr (scientific atlanta) that was given to me from my cable company(Cablevision- I-O Digital HD Cable) and I am wondering if there is a way to burn the dvr show to dvd...Help please.

    Buy a stand alone dvd player/dvd burner would be the easiest way i would think but not really quite sure

    You mean a dvd recorder? I was also thinking maybe I can buy an external hard drive and attach it to the dvr/cable box and download it to my computer and burn it like that, but I don't know.
