i dont know if this is in the right place, but... i have a dvr(digatal video recorder) from bright house. a scientific atlanta explorer 8000. i was wondering what cords and programs i need to backup the movies on to my pc from the dvr? help would really be appreicated!
Well Look at the Back of the DVR and See what types of Outputs the DVR Has....If it has any digital outputs Like a USB or Firewire Output then you would use a USB or firewire Cord but if there are no Digital Output then you won"t be able to Transfer the Video to your PC unless you have a capture device Installed in your PC but it should have a Digital Output that is Compatible with a PC.... Cheers PS: if it has a USB Port you will Probably need some sort of driver which should have come with the DVR....
Hey, I just did a Little research on the Net about your "Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8000 DVR" and from what I read your DVR has an SATA Port on it which would hook up to your PC Via your Motherboards SATA Drive Input...Your Motherboard Might not have a SATA Drive Port especially if it is More than a couple Years Old as SATA is the Newest Drive Interface and Not all Motherboards support SATA but most New Ones Do..... Cheers
