I've been using Exact Audio Copy for years to rip tracks to .wav files. Suddenly, EAC doesn't recognize either of my optical drives. I have a cd burner for my d: drive and a dvd burner as the e: drive. The pull down menu on EAC that lets you select from the drives doesn't have anything, and I can't figure out why. I have tried removing the program(EAC) and its registry entry, and then re-downloading and installing multiple times, but the same thing. It doesn't detect the drives. When I run the configuration wizard, it detects no drives to configure. Anyone have any idea what caused this and how I fix it? I should add that both drives still work fine with other programs. I can rip files using Roxio, can burn both cd's and dvd's using Roxio, and can play cd's in either drive using multiple media players. Only EAC fails to recognize the presence of the two optical drives. Approx 3 month old Dell PC, Win XP home OS. Not sure what else might be needed.
uninstall again eac, remove all of it from the registry as you might have left something behind, download & run ccleaner including the issues tab til no more issues found from http://www.ccleaner.com/, defrag the hd than reinstal the program. also check eac site for updates, patches & faq
