I thought I knew how to do this, but I keep making coasters! I have a number of movies on a hard drive backed up with the DVD standard VIDEO_TS files and folders. However, whenever I try to burn these with Nero, etc. the resulting disc will not play. How should I go about doing this? I have no problem using .img or .iso files, but can't seem to get the DVD files and folders out to a playable DVD recordable. TIA for any help!

With Nero, make sure you have it selected as a DVD, and burn as a DVD-Video. On the compilation side will be the VIDEO_TS folder. Drag and drop the VIDEO_TS folder on the explorer side of the movie you want to burn onto the compilation folder. Then burn away. If the file is too big, then it needs to be compressed with another program. If it fits and still doesn't work, then it probably doesn't have all the files or something else.

I've done that several times. It finishes burning with Nero but then it won't play, nor can I even see the files on the DVD! Maybe I'll have to try it again? I don't know.

Have you tried using Nero Recode2 or DVD Shrink to analyze the files? As raven1245 mentioned you may be missing files in the DVD Structure.
