Will I be able to just use DVD Decrypter, ISO Buster, and nero to burn and play a PS2 double layer game sucessfully? Is it mandatory for me to have Gnie's IML2ISO v4, Gnie's ExPERT, APACHE 3, and CD/DVD GEN 1.5 to burn and play it?

Swap Magic doesn't support DVD-9 games. You'll need to rebuild the game to single layer.

    18. Q. How do I shrink a DVD-9 game to DVD-5?
    A. This differs on a game to game basis. Typically when shrinking a DVD-9 game to fit on a DVD-5 DVD, you'll want to take out FMV's, dummy files, and extras. Not all games have dummy files. For popular games search the forums and you'll find some nice rebuild guides for Xenosaga, God of War, and GTA 4. There's only 14 or 15 DVD-9 games at present, so don't panic. You only have to do this with Swap Magic or HD Advance 2.0 and earlier.

<< How To Rebuild PS2 games using Gnie's ExPERT guide by Alkohol >>

OK folks I just want to throw in another Gnie's ExPERT rebuilding guide and add to my guide here that's all. For those that has no idea on how to use Gnie's ExPERT; here's a simple guide for you all, so look no further. Basically, Gnie's ExPERT is another useful tool that automatically rebuild the ISO into a new rebuilt ISO without going through hustle or hassle.

**Things to remember: make sure your burner's firmware is up-to-date with the latest available firmware for your burner. Firmware enhances media compatibility, with that being said, it helps to burn and or write to the most newest media in the market now-a-days easily. Another good rule of thumb is to always use high quality media, don't blame me if you burned it too fast, too slow or if you're using crap/junk unknown media.

    <><> Tools needed <><>

    <> DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0
    <> Gnie's ExPERT v1.03 Rebuilding Tool

    <><><> STEP 1 <><><>

<> Rip the original ISO with DVD Decrypter

<> put original PS2 game inside dvd burner or dvd rom drive
<> open up DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0
<> Mode, ISO, Read R (to your hard drive)
<> set "source" = where the original PS2 game is located
<> set "destination" = to your hard drive
<> click DECRYPT (and now wait until it's completed)

    ==============================================================
you should know how to rip the original PS2 game's ISO with DVD Decrypter already
    ==============================================================

If you still DON'T KNOW how to rip the main ISO with DVD Decrypter, then it is obvious that you're not a true gamer(s).

**NOTE: Extremely important here; for this guide, I will use the ISO disc 2 from XENOSAGA only, but you can use it for any of your future or new PS2 games ripped ISO.

    <><><> SETP 2 <><><>

<> Rebuild the ISO with Gnie's ExPERT

**NOTE: you can use any of your ripped PS2 game's ISO, this is just my example only**

That's it.... easy as sippin' on some Hennessey. Now just burn your new rebuilt ISO with DVD Decrypter with some high quality media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim "advanced azo or datalife plus" or Maxell (made in japan by Hitachi Corp.) and you should be all square away.

    <><><> STEP 3 <><><>

<> burn your newly rebuilt ISO with DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0

    <> open up DVD Decrypter
<> put a high quality media inside your dvd burner
<> set your "source" = browse to your new rebuilt ISO from your hard drive
<> set your "destination" = to your dvd burner
<> set your burning speed to 4X
<> click on WRITE (now sit tight until it's successfully completed)

That's it... enjoy your new backup now.

Another good guide Alkohol. You have a nack for making detailed, easy to follow guides. People writing guides for AD in the future should take their cues from you. Cheers!

Right, i gotta question. Why is it when i use DVD Decrypter to read the .iso file off my GT4 Disc, i get two different files? One of them is 4GB and the other is 1GB. I also get some other file with it. I tried using Ultra Iso to burn it all into one big .Iso file but i just got one 4GB file again. I don't really remember what the files i get are, but it shouldnt matter. Im sure this shouldnt be happening. GT4 takes ages to load up, i just wanted t put it on my HDD. Thanx, I'm out

Hi everyone, I've downloaded Urban Reign and when I opened it I found out that there were several files numbered like Winrar but there weren't rar files then I read the post that said to use Hjsplit and so I did and I end up w/ one file, the thing is that this file ain't ISO and doesn't have a file extension, this is where I ask. Can I burn this file in order to be able to play it on PS2?
I have a printscreen of it if anyone wants to see it.

    Cheers!

@ C_O_G Are you sure they're not rar files? Rar files don't always have the rar extension. Right click the first numbered file and click "extract here." If that doesn't work, then double click the the first numbered file, right click the iso file and click "extract to specified folder."

Hi Tokijin, yes I'm sure, as I said before I was in doubt wich program to use but then I got a tip that I should use HJSplit then it worked marvelously, but the thing is, I got a file that has no extension and I don't know if I can burn it or not in order to have a PS2 game.
Is there a mandatory type of files and number of files to be on a PS2 CD/DVD compilation?

Any chance some one can re-host the programs needed to re-build Gran Turismo 4? If you post them to yousendit, I can host them for everyone.
