What was wrong with the other sig? It's gonna take a while to get used to the new one... I like it tough!

Hoi Tokijin/alcohol, i've DL the Sonix's full GT4 Tool Kit and rebuild my ISO-(PAL)file with Alcohols way (page 5). My new ISO have a size of 4.31 GB (it's probally normal because the PAl version-original is about 5.3 GB). It loads (asking to save the game at the memory card and to make a players account - after that a lot of information (clicking about 8 x at OK)- pressing START), but after that i get a grey screen with information of the one of the firms who helped to make GT4 and then the game freezes. I think that the problem is my audio. I've followed Tokijins advice and i've ordered some Taiyo Yuden-DVD+RW from the UK and when receiving those DVD's, i'm gonna burn the new ISO again. I keep you guys informed. Thanks anyway.

@ bmcoach There's plenty of versions of GTA4 that have already been rebuilt to DVD-5 available over BitTorrent. What kind of media are you using?

@ 2IIPack The GT4 ripkit by Sonix downsizes the movie files, allowing the game to fit on single layer DVD.

Try one of the other methods of rebuilding.

    11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
    A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949
    With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515
With Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool):
Gnie's PS2 Auto Rebuilder Tool Download (Thanks to 3DLuis):
    http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar
Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT From Paddymail:

Here's how to use it.. it might not work for all games though.

    Open the program.

    1. Select the Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins drop down list.
    2. Select the iso you want to rebuild.
    3. Click extract LBA.
    4. Click extract file and wait for it to finish.
    5. Click rebuild file and wait for it to finish.
    6. Click rebuild LBA.
    7. Burn the new iso with Nero or DVD Decrypter as usual.

First, i already use the torrent system (µtorrent) to DL. I have the original game of GT4 so i want to use my uploadlimiet for other games.

Second, you already asked me the same question at thread_view.cfm/3/260572 and my answer was
"Decrypter says : Disc ID: Plasmon1-C01-00S"
Because those kind of DVD's are shit, you adviced me to buy some TY's. I followed your adviced and i expect to get my ordered TY's in 2-4 days. I give you a sign after a new burning attempt. Greetz.

Sorry I'm subscribed to 940+ threads, it's a little hard to remember some random thread where bad media was the cause of RSOD/boot failure. That describes half the threads on AD. People refuse to use good media and wonder why their backups don't work. That gets tiresome.

    @LiquidusX

You can try to rebuild using my guide on Gnie's ExPERT (on page 18) to see if it's a success. Are you talking about MGS2: Sons of Liberty? or MGS2: Substances? If you're talking about MGS2: Sons of Liberty (US version), then you can just use Gnie's Expert or try my 50CENT method, either one should work. I rebuilt MGS2: S.O.L with Gnie's ExPERT and it worked flawlessly on a YUDEN000T02 media. Let me know what's your results.

It does the same thing, but because of the massive user errors involved in the other rebuilding methods, Gnies' Expert is like the dummy's guide to rebuilding PS2 games. It's a simple, effective alternative to other rebuilding methods. It may not work on every game, but it seems to work pretty frequently.

@ Alkohol, I believe he is referring to MGS2: Substance, as it's DVD-9. There is a rebuild guide here: http://www.freewebs.com/mybackups/downloads.htm

Hi There! I have a question might sound dumb. But hear I go.When burning a PS2 games with DVD Decrypter after reading the ISO you get 2 files on your hard drive a ISO File in GB's & a MDS Image in KB's. Now which file do you burn? Also which file do you patch for online? Or do you use a program to combined the two files. Then burn...Help Please.Later Bra

Load the MDS file into DVD Decrypter.

    1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
    A. Use DVD Decrypter.
    Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on a quality 8x DVD-R.

    2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
    A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/240341
If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc.
CMC Magnetics is garbage. Need proof (Thanks to Alkohol):
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/262544
If you really want to do the PS2 backup thing right, pick up some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's. I only burn to TYG02, the 8x Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's. So far I've never had a lag, skip, freeze, or boot failure since I switched to Taiyo Yuden's. With results like that, why would I use anything else? The brand of media you use means very little.
The key determinant of media quality is the Media ID. For info on the Media ID, check the bottom of this thread.
Try this link for all types of different info on media quality, compatibility, and console reliability: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia

    3. Q. Do I need some type of mod to play PS2 backups or imports?
    A. Yes you need a modchip: http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2 Swap Magic: http://swapmagic3.com/ Memory Card Exploit (Doesn't work with v.11 PS2 and later): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109289 HD Loader: http://www.hdloader.com.au/hardinstall#prepare or

Thanks for your info! I guess this is the answer I was looking for. Step 7-

Next Select your ISO That you extracted on to your hard drive by click the folder outlined in blue.(the ISO File Not the MDS)

Then Make sure your Write Speed is at the corresponding speeds.

(Blank DVD R-8x max write speed Burn at 4X)

(Blank DVD R-4x max write speed Burn at 2X)

After you have completed that click the button outlined in Red. In the picture below. But when patching DNAS for online is it still the ISO file you use?
