LOL Just goes to show what I was told many years ago the only way to Format a hard drive is to pour petrol over it and set it alight
what the hell i will post this here.. http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/06/17/139209&from=rss EFF Gets Animated About DRM with The Corruptibles Posted by CowboyNeal on Saturday June 17, @09:26AM from the fair-use-and-fairly-usable dept. Media The Almighty Buck Lurker McLurker writes "An animation from the EFF shows DRM technology as a group of supervillans who aim to invade your home, interfere with your devices and stop you from using your digital media the way you want to, even if it is legitimate. Doesn't say anything about the subject most of us wouldn't know, but a great link to send to your friends as an introduction to the issue." go here http://www.eff.org/corrupt/
The postage that the chap paid was WAY over the odds - about £20 over! He should have realised that he was being screwed over just by the price of the postage. Not only did he lose £loads for the laptop, he ended up with a double whammy! This is why I do not like E-Bay.
What did that guy do to him to desrve that? Really that was out of him to go as far as publishing his harddrive.
I hate ebay.. shoddy goods, dodgy dealers and shill bidders everywhere. One guy last year had the nerve to try to rip me off 3 times for the same item. I sent it and he claimed it had not arrived..so being nice I sent another, because things can go missing. But I paid the extra for recorded delivery on it...apparently that didn't arrive either but I checked and it was delivered to his address and signed for (with a duff name) So just for fun (it wasn't a large thing and I had lots of them) I sent a third by UPS fully insured and to only be signed for by the named addressee. who promptly signed for it and then a few days later claimed that hadn't arrived and demanded a refund. I happily sent him the logs from the PO and UPS proving delivery and he then started claiming I had the address wrong..DUH! So I did a little investigating of the things he was selling and bidding on and found an interesting coincidence..one of the names that was bidding on one of his items was selling exactly the same items I had sent. Hmm interesting, so I used my business account and bid up the item until I won it and surprise..surprise..when the invoice for payment came it was the guy who ripped me off. I sent a full report of everything..copies of delivery notes and all invoices to ebay who as usual did completely nothing.. Now all I do is sell rubbish on ebay when I can be bothered..and I don't answer any complaints whatsoever. My registered email account is a black hole and the credit card I used no longer has an account or an address to go with it. It's funny how easy it is to get a card online.. Suffice to say I don't accept paypal.. Buyer beware..the new slogan for ripoffbay!! I like what the guy did posting all the pictures, but he should remember that the seller has his address. That's why I'm not totally convinced that this is as real as it seems. Most likely somebody bought a used drive at a flea market or something and got a nice gift of loads of somebody elses data.. rofl.. How to format a drive.. recommended method for disposal.. Sledgehammer!
Everytime this sort of thing happens (accounts hacked etc) it appears that E-Bay are not interested in doing anything about it. As for PayPal, they can shove that up their a**.
My thoughts exactly..they only exist to fleece us of any little profit we might scrape out of it. Then if you sell more than £6000 they report you to the tax man!! B**&*^&%.. Ooo I hate ebay!!
